Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
With Simon Beck (MATE of Northern Sold) & Jake Collin running the line
Anthony Taylor & Andre Marriner will be the two officials standing next to the goal like lemons

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
As a tackle it was not comparable with what McCarthy did to Payet last season. Last night's was not even a foul whereas McCarthy's deserved a red card.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
He doesn't slide in at all. The ball is almost in dispute between them and Payet gets a block on it. Because they are close his right knee comes into contact with Ronaldo's left knee.
Purely accidental contact and Ronaldo is the one who is accidentally injured.
No intent, no diving in (they are both upright throughout).
Unfortunate for Ronaldo but no fault on Payet.
A robust fair challenge.
If that's a foul or card they might as well play in TUTU'S

Bloody hell; Payet went in hard, yes, it's a championship final. It was a totally legal challenge no matter how long the game had been going. What are you saying Hairy? 7 minutes in it's a booking but 37 mins in and it's acceptable. It was 100% fair. Never a booking, Ronaldo fell awkwardly which caused the problem.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
Watch the tackle again it was aggressive and look at Evra coming in after Payet's tackle trying to shoulder charge Ronaldo even though he is on the floor, I know roughing up when I see it, I also know an aggressive tackle, if their was space between Ronaldo and the ball slide in ok, but not when the ball is at his feet.

If Payet was being aggressive we migh as well pack in now.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
I thought his foot was high studs showing and aggressive he got the ball but knowingly and purposefully the man too.

There are certain players that you are told to rough up Ronaldo is one, I hate him but for me the tackle was much too aggressive for the seventh minute of a game on a player who was not in a dangerous place.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
Officiating was as 'good' as ever in that it, by and large, followed what is expected nowadays. My problem is with the shirt tugging in the penalty area that seems to be OK most of the time, until it's not, and the fact the extra refs behind the goal - who were initially introduced for goal-line decisions - do nothing. Being as everyone is bored senseless by these big tournaments won by the dullest teams, I'd like a complete ban on all shirt pulling in the box. Once a few pens have been given away the shirt pulling will stop and defenders will have to actually play the ball. Should open games up a bit more until the next rule bend.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with Payet's tackle.

Yellow AT LEAST? Don't be ridiculous.

Italy v Germany was the only game I watched after England went out Marty, so I haven't seen it.

Was just going by the fact the papers hadn't really picked up on anything too bad, though like the rest they were probably bored senseless as well.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
Payet won the ball and there was an accidental clash of knees. Nothing late, nothing violent , nothing wreckless.
The only foul committed was by the MOTH

Agree, I am always in favour of as much tech as is humanly possible fans will just have to get used to sitting about for an extra 5 mins .

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
Clattenburg without fail always makes a clanger, the hand ball was just one and the Payet tackle was a yellow at least.

The game was pretty clean all he had to do was decide who was or was not diving and he fucked up on that one with the Payet foul on Ronaldo.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
I get that, don't get me wrong.

But when it matters most in the Final they cocked up massively, I wouldn't say they came out of the tournament as "top notch".

They do an amazing job considering but they need video technology to help at least. The refs have changed games by making the wrong decision countless times and it's directly costing teams. How many times did we experience that last season!?

I would wager if that was England in the final that it happened to the "top notch officiating during the tournament" comment wouldn't of been thrown around.

I always cut them slack as they have such a difficult job but the hand it hit was black and he called the foul against a white person! That's just ridiculous I'm not sure how you can defend his decision? Only excuse would be he didn't see it clearly, in which case he shouldn't give the foul.

They need help and in this day and age I can't believe they won't use video technology, other sports do, to excellent effect.

Oh and all this "it balances itself out" bollocks is a joke, as proved last season. It shouldn't be a case of balancing itself out just get the video technology in place to get the correct, fair decisions in the first place.

Re: Mark Clattenburg to referee the Euro 2016 final
Now it may be a wild stab in the dark here, but I'm guessing the top notch remark was about officiating overall and not just last nights game.

No idea how many games there were, but if there were around 40 and I can't remember a single monster shock of a decision, then that isn't bad really.

The wrong handball decision, directly led to Eder's goal, how can anyone say the ref was top notch?

He missed Payets 'horror tackle' on Ronaldo.
SHAMEFUL
